TEHRAN, Jul. 16 (MNA) – Maria Dotsenko, the UNIC Director in Iran said on Monday that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always been a bold contributor to pro-peace activities of the UN in the world.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always contributed to establishing peace and serenity in the world and there examples demonstrating this fact in historic and identification documents of this country,” said Maria Dotsenko, the UNIC Director in the Islamic Republic of Iran and former representative for the United Nations' public information office in Yerevan, Armenia.

The UN official made the remarks on the sidelines of an exhibition of photos and historic documents in Arak, the capital of Markazi Province, in Midwestern Iran. The United Nations' Information Center (UNIC) was one of the contributors to the exhibition.

“The images exhibited at this exhibition shed light on some aspects of culture, civilization and the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in peaceful activities in cooperation with the United Nations in the past 4 decades,” said the UN official.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always had close cooperation with the United Nation in the path to establish global peace and these kinds of cooperation are increasing,” she added.

“Iran is one of the first 50 countries which has joined the UN as a member and some Secretary Generals of the UN have paid visit to Iran,” she underlined.

“There are 18 agencies and institutions of the UN which have accepted the Islamic Republic of Iran’s invitation and have offices of their own in Iran, and Iran played a bold role in the 2013 statement of the UN against violence,” she highlighted.
