TEHRAN, Jun. 19 (MNA) – Iranian cyclists finished in third place at the first round of a cycling tour on Monday in Turkey.

The Iranian national cyclist team are taking part in the Turkish tournament to prepare themselves for the 2018 Asian Games (Jakarta Palembang 2018) to be hosted by Indonesia from 18 August to 2 September 2018.

The first round of the Turkish cycling tournament was held on Monday, in which Iran’s Behnam Arian finished in 9th place. Saeid Safarzada, Mohammad Ganjkhanlou, and Mohammad Rajablou finishihed in 10th, 11th, and 12th place, respectively.

Mehdi Sohrabi and Mir Samadpour Seyyedi finished in 16th and 24th place, respectively.

The team’s coach, Hashem Kandi, told Mehr News correspondent that the Turkish tournament takes place in four rounds. He said adverse weather conditions affected the performance of the Iranian cyclists, expressing hope for a better result in the three remaining rounds of the international event.

The first round of the cycling tournament in Turkey concluded with Turkey, Switzerland and Iran taking the first three top spots.

The second round will go underway today on a 140km track in Konya, south of Ankara in Turkey’s Central Anatolia region.
