TEHRAN, Nov. 26 (MNA) – The Iranian squad of U23 freestyle wrestlers garnered a bronze medal on the first day of competition at the U23 World Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland, on Sunday.

The Iranian national team of U23 freestyle wrestlers wrapped up the first day of competition at the U23 World Championships Men's Freestyle Wrestling in Bydgoszcz of Poland grabbing a bronze medal.

Team Melli was unable to qualify a wrestler for the medal matches, except for its representative in the 125 kilogram weight division on the day.

Amin Taheri was the only Iranian wrestler of the day who managed to end up at the medal match of his weight category, 125 kilogram, and stay at the third place of the medal podium.

Reza Atari, the other member of the Iranian outfit, lost to his first opponent in the 57 kilogram (125 lbs) weight class and as the Japanese wrestler got defeated in the next round, the Iranian athlete never got the opportunity to get to the pool of second chance.

In the 61-kilogram weight division, Iman Sadeghi defeated his first rival from Georgia before falling to his Russian opponent in the next round.

Alireza Karmim of 86 kilogram weight category fell in his first match to a Russian competitor.
