Jaberi Ansari, during the meeting held in Beirut on Wednesday afternoon, underlined the message that his visit to Lebanon and his meetings with leaders of all Lebanese groups is that Tehran respects all components of the Lebanese society, commending the local consensus in Lebanon amid the tough regional situation.
He also hailed the political achievements as well as the victories on the ground secured by the Lebanese government, nation, army, and the Resistance movement against terrorist and extremist groups, adding, “Iran backs these positive developments in Lebanon and in the region."
Patriarch al-Rahi, for his part, said his country’s priority is to boost national unity, while Lebanon’s other priorities include tackling economic crises and help repatriate refugees in Lebanon.
He deemed the Islamic Republic of Iran as a respected country, underlining that Beirut needs Tehran’s assistance to further consolidate unity in the country.
On regional crisis, the patriarch noted that the war in Syria is in its final stages, expressing Lebanon's gratitude for Iran's anti-terrorism efforts.
Deputy FM also had a meeting with Émile Lahoud, former president of Lebanon, on Wednesday where Lahoud hailed Iran's unwavering support for Lebanon.
