TEHRAN, Jun. 19 (MNA) – Iran’s national junior freestyle team managed to land first at 2017 Junior Asian Championships underway Taiwan after collecting three gold, two silver and two bronze medals.

On concluding day of the reputable Asian tournament held in the Taiwanese city of Taichung, Iranian freestylers scooped three gold, two silver and two bronze trophies to earn 69 points and stand on top of the podium. Iran was followed by Uzbek and Kazakh wrestling teams who finished second and third with 67 and 53 points respectively.

Mohammad Mottaghinia (74kg), Ahmad Bazri (84kg) and Danyal Shariatinia (96kg) outpowered their rivals and brought home three gold medal for the Persian squad.

Furthermore, Younes Emami (60) and Amirhossein Hosseini added to silvers to Iran’s tally of medals. Meanwhile, Nader Nasri (50kg) and Shayan Jalilzade (120kg) only managed to bag bronze medals.

Young freestyle wrestlers of Iran took part at the Asian tournament to be hosted by Taichung city in Chinese Taipei from June 15-18, 2017.

Earlier on Saturday, Iran’s national junior Greco-Roman squad collected five gold and two silver medals to win the title at 2017 Junior Asian Championships.
