TEHRAN, Oct. 17 (MNA) – President of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) heading a delegation visited Tehran for talks on developing nuclear cooperation for peaceful purposes.

Sun Qin, President of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), held talks with Ali Akbar Salehi, Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Mohammad Ahmadian, AEOI deputy and CEO of Nuclear Power Production and Development Company of Iran (NPPD), as well as officials in charge of the modernization project of Arak Heavy Water Reactor.

During the talks, the two sides expressed keen interest in deepening and expanding relations in all areas related to peaceful use of nuclear energy, and exchanged views on ways to expedite the modernization process of Arak reactor.

The Chinese delegation also paid a visit to the Arak research reactor.

On Aug. 26, AEOI head Ali Akbar Salehi and Xu Dazhe, the head of China’s Atomic Energy Authority, discussed cooperation between the two countries in the Chinese capital, Beijing. The talks included the two sides’ stress on the the implementation of JCPOA, as well as construction of new nuclear plants by China in Iran.
