Following recent movements in Turkey and the consequent insecurities as well as statements issued by diplomatic and consular representative of Iran in the country of destination, Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handcrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHTO) has put out an announcement calling on travel and tourism agencies to strictly refrain from registration and sending tourists to Turkey until further notice and before the restoration of security and peace to the neighboring country.
ICHTO, while making consultations with Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as the Civil Aviation Organization (CAO), is planning for safe and gradual return of Iranian tourists who failed to leave Turkey due to last night unrests.
"Obviously, relevant travel agencies are obliged to spare all efforts towards preparing tourists in Turkey for emergency situations offering necessary cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran over maintaining travellers' health in addition to their gradual return," the statement urges.
Foloowing a coup d'etat attempt in neighbouring country Turkey on Friday night and early hours of Saturday, Iran suspended all its flights to Turkey; one flight, however, is decided to depart for Turkey to bring Iranian tourists back to Iran.
