TEHRAN, Sep. 28 (MNA) – Iran’s Deputy FM made an emergency call to Saudi charge d’affairs in Tehran urging provision of consular access to Iranian casualties in Mina Tragedy.

During a telephone conversation with Saudi Arabia’s charge d’affaires, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said that, “despite the promise for assistance and cooperation on the part of Saudi Arabia, the current measures to identify the missing people are insufficient.”

“We expect Saudi authorities to provide immediate consular access to the bodies of Iranians who have been transferred to Mecca,” Amir-Abdollahian added during the call.

He further demanded Saudi officials to have serious and effective cooperation with regard to identifying and determining the status of all missing Iranians in Mina incident.

Amir-Abdollahian asserted that, “Iranian Hajj officials in Mecca are ready to provide emergency assistance to and cooperation with Saudi Ministry of Hajj in this regard and we seriously will keep track of every single missing Iranian in order to find out their status.”

Saudi Arabia's charge d'affaires also explained the latest measures taken in this respect and promised to immediately inform the country's top officials on this issue.

According to Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization, a total of 169 Iranian pilgrims were killed in Mina Tragedy. Meanwhile, the number of injured and missing Iranian pilgrims are 46 and 298, respectively.
