British Airways to relaunch direct Tehran flights tonight

TEHRAN, Sep. 01 (MNA) – The British Airways announced that the four-year suspended direct flights from London Heathrow to Tehran will be resumed late on Thursday.

Thirteen months after the ground-changing Iran-Sextet agreement of Vienna, and eight months after implementation of the deal, the British Airways resumes its direct flights to Tehran.

The first flight after the suspension of the route in October 2012 will take off from London Heathrow late on Thursday.

Using a Boeing 777, the carrier will run flights six days a week from London Heathrow to Tehran International Airport of Imam Khomeini located in the southern outskirts of Tehran.

The officials of the two countries say that resumption of the direct flights after a year from reopening of the embassies can improve the expansion of ties.

British Airways comes second to the French carrier, Air France, which reinstated its Paris to Tehran route earlier in April.
