British Airways’ officials arrived in Tehran on Tuesday to re-establish their route between Tehran and London, said the Deputy Head of Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization (ICVO) Mohammad Khodakarami on Wednesday.
The service has been in place by the Airline of the Islamic Republic of Iran (Iran Air) but the British stopped in 2012 and now after four years they are seeking return.
The official reminded that the direct flight had been agreed in the past and the MoU was temporarily unmet by the British after the Islamic Republic went under unfair American-initiated sanctions in 2011.
"Air France and Royal Dutch Airlines (KLM) have already submitted their request to reinstate their direct flights to Iran and they will start flying to Tehran within the next three months," highlighted the deputy head of ICVO.
The official had already recounted that there were Japanese, Malaysian, and Spanish air lines wishing entrance to Iran’s air industry and having Iranian stops in their air network.
Following the removal of anti-Iran sanctions in mid-January, deluge of international firms and companies are submitting requests of return to the vast 80-million-people country of the Middle East.
