Iranian wrestlers finish 2nd in Asian championship

Iranian youth Greco-Roman wrestlers finished at the second place in the 2011 Asian Wrestling Championship.

The Iranian team won three gold medals, four silvers and two bronzes and scored 86 points. Kyrgyzstan claimed the tile with 87 points.

Iran failed to defend its last year’s championship.
 

 
Reza Khedri at the 46kg class, Payam Bouyers at the 63kg and Ali Sharifi at the 69kg seized the gold medals. Mohammad Payamani at the 42kg class, Ali Arsalan at the 50kg, Ramin Taheri at the 54kg and Amirhossein Khanpour at the 85kg won the silvers and Masoud Moradi at the 76kg and Arash Arab at the 100kg claimed the bronze medals.
 
The two-day freestyle event will start on Saturday in Bangkok.
 
The wrestling championships have brought about 350 wrestlers from 20 countries together in Bangkok, Thailand.
