Stone dagger

TEHRAN, Feb. 23 (MNA) -- The state of Argentina is constituted by a few marble buildings, sacred apparel and solemn words, protocolar ceremonies and a few crimes “in the name of the people”.

The state is generally governed by people who are indifferent to the beastly days that are to come and who tend to be dumbstruck when they “discover” that 25 undernourished children die each day before their 12th month of age in our country, according to the annual UNICEF report The State of the World’s Children. Indeed, the little souls of kids who do not discover the respect for their lives.

Each family always carries an unfair death in their memories, an eviction, unbearable hunger, infinite sorrows. And those who are pushed from social exchanges -- tired of building cardboard horizons -- confirm the streets are furrows drawn by other sorrows.

The most onerous attribute of poverty is that it has been expanded and hardened during a time of perverse economic growth and of a “spectacular improvement” of the situation of those privileged members of our societies, who -- by means of their intellectuals -- transform “sociological conditions into psychological features and they impute to their victims the deformed properties of their executioners.” The inconceivable hunger questions us again: people must choose between being animals again or finding the spark of their greatness.

Diffuse silhouettes and blurred humanities -- dying of misery -- walk the streets, gazes that during the defeat hold on -- in the darkness -- to a pure instant of their lives. These are people who survive by dreaming of ancient bread smell, old friends’ laughter mixing with the barking of dogs and the most beautiful caresses in their despair.

Perhaps one day, here or in any other place within the darkness that surrounds us, the scream of the poor will be driven like a stone dagger into the center of this Earth that does not exist.
