The ire of Zionist officials was most evident in their recent remarks over the past few days in which they tried to downplay the significance of the Tehran Declaration. In addition, they are still unwilling to stop accusing Iran of seeking to develop or acquire weapons of mass destruction (WMD).
The Sunday remarks by Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz regarding Iran’s announcement that it would sign the additional protocol to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) are a clear example of this. Mofaz, who was addressing a cabinet meeting, said that international pressure on the nuclear issue was bearing fruit, but its effectiveness was limited since Iran has no intention of stopping its nuclear program.
Over the past few months, the United States and the Zionist regime have blamed the Islamic Republic for obstructing their hegemonic policy. Their accusations that Iran seeks to develop or acquire weapons of mass destruction are part of the propaganda campaign against the Islamic Republic.
However, Iran has successfully thwarted the U.S.-Zionist disinformation campaign by adopting a prudent approach in its dealings with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Relations between Iran and the IAEA hit a low point last month after the agency’s Board of Governors issued a resolution against Tehran which set a deadline of October 31 for the Islamic Republic to prove that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes. Before the resolution was issued, the IAEA had been insisting that Iran sign the additional protocol to the NPT, which would authorize snap inspections of its nuclear sites.
However, Iran’s initiative to invite the French, German, and British foreign ministers to discus the issue changed the course of events in favor of the Islamic Republic and frustrated the U.S.-Zionist plots against Iran.
This has put the Zionist regime on the defensive, since it must now respond to the concerns of Middle Eastern states as well as the international community about its arsenal of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction.
Much to their chagrin, Zionist and U.S. officials have realized that the Tehran Declaration has allayed the world’s concerns about Iran’s nuclear program. Basically, Iran never had anything to hide and is therefore not worried about threats to disclose the truth about its nuclear activities.
On the other hand, the fact that Israel has a nuclear weapons program and possesses at least 200 nuclear warheads has been common knowledge for many years. In fact, regional states have often stated that Israel’s nuclear weapons are actually the most serious threat to Middle East security.
It is high time for the international community to make a decision in regard to Israel’s nuclear program. The world must break the silence over the real threats to peace.
Israel is the real rogue state with nuclear weapons which is showing contempt for the international community. An international resolution should be issued against the Zionist regime giving it a deadline to dismantle its nuclear weapons. This would be the first step toward establishing lasting peace and stability in the region by making the Middle East a WMD-free zone.
