Iranian, Russian presidents discuss war developments

TEHRAN, Mar. 07 (MNA) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian received a phone call from his Russian counterpart late on Thursday to discuss the latest developments in the region.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation to discuss bilateral ties and the latest regional developments regarding US-Israeli aggression against Iran.

During the phone call, President Putin emphasized the need for immediate halting of war in the West Asia region and accelerated return to the path of resolving problems through the political and diplomatic channels. 

President Putin also seized this opportunity to express his condolences over the martyrdom of Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, again.

Targeting US military bases in the region is a move for self-defense in line with protecting the country and people from US-Israeli aggression, Pezeshkian stressed for his part.

President Pezeshkian highlighted that the cowardly assassination of Leader of the Islamic Revolution runs contrary to the fundamental principles of the international laws and the UN Charter.

According to Kremlin officials, Russian President Vladimir Putin is in constantly getting in touch with leaders of the Persian Gulf littoral states to find a solution on ceasing war between Iran and US-Israel. 

The two presidents agreed to continue their contacts through various channels.
