Netanyahu meets with Witkoff, Kushner

TEHRAN, Sep. 29 (MNA) – Donald Trump's envoy held a meeting with Netanyahu to hammer out differences before his meeting with the US president.

The Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met in New York on Sunday with Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of President Trump, and Steve Witkoff, the special envoy from the White House, for a six-hour session focused on the war in Gaza and possible scenarios for ending it. Neither side disclosed the outcome or details of the meeting.

Earlier, Trump told Axios that Gaza war negotiations had entered the “final stage” and could open the way to a broader peace in the West Asia region.

All parties have come together to reach an agreement, but we still have to finish the job, he said, adding that Arab states had shown tremendous cooperation.

The US president also asserted that Hamas was aligning itself with Arab countries in pursuit of peace. The Arab world wants peace, Israel wants peace, and Netanyahu wants peace, he claimed.

According to reports, Kushner and Witkoff met with Netanyahu to narrow remaining differences ahead of a planned meeting between Trump and the Israeli permier at the White House on Monday.

Trump has said that Netanyahu supports his plan, though Israel has not formally commented on this matter. In recent days, Israeli and Arab representatives have worked to revise the draft of a potential agreement.

Two major conflicting points remain between the US and the Zionist regime: how to disarm Hamas and whether the Palestinian Authority should play a role in Gaza. Netanyahu has repeatedly declared that any return of the Authority to Gaza is a red line.
