Two-state solution ineffective in resolving Palestine issue

TEHRAN, Dec. 11 (MNA) – Addressing an online conference hosted by Qatar on Monday, the foreign minister reaffirmed Iran's opposition to a two-state solution for the Palestinian problems saying that it is because the Israeli regime is an occupier.

"Israel is occupying the Palestinian land and we believe that a two-state solution will not help to resolve the Palestinian issue," Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said, addressing the Doha-hosted conference on Monday.

"The only thing that Iran and Israel have in common is that neither of them believes in a two-state solution," according to the top Iranian diplomat.

He emphasized that "the two-state solution will not help the Palestinians", adding that "there should be only one government in the Palestinian territories" and that government there should be formed after a referendum.

He went on to say, "The US stands behind Israel with all its strength and has extensive support for this regime. The use of the veto by the United States to continue Israel's crimes shows this."
