Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani made the remarks on Saturday in a meeting with academicians of Iran's Markazi province at Arak University.
The Navy commander went over the achievements of his forces over the past two years including sailing around the globe, saying that "Today, three command centers run by the Islamic Republic have been registered in the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean, and we hope that one command will also be registered in the Mediterranean Sea, and we hope that the equipment of one of these commands will be supplied by the industries of the Markazi province."
Regarding the presence in Antarctica, the navy commander said, "The presence in Antarctica has started scientifically, we still do not have enough information in this region, and we must use the potential of universities to set up our base in Antarctica in a scientific way."
He also termed the Caspian Sea a sea of peace and friendship.
"Iran has the largest share in the Caspian," he said, expressing hope that its Deylaman destroyer will become operational in the Caspian and the first exercise will be held with it.
