Stopping conflict in Gaza first priority for Saudi Arabia

TEHRAN, Sep. 24 (MNA) – Saudi Arabia's foreign minister has called for an urgent cessation of tensions in the Gaza Strip and Tel Aviv's respect for international law.

Faisal Bin Farhan made his remarks at the Cairo Peace Summit on Saturday afternoon.

He said that Riyadh decisively rejects the violation of international humanitarian law by any party and condemns any attack on civilians.

The top Saudi diplomat also urged the Israeli regime to respect international law, adding that Saudi Arabia firmly opposes the attempts for forced migration of Palestinians.

Saudi Arabia's foreign minister also stated that the international community must put pressure on the Israeli regime to stop besieging Gaza, emphasizing that Saudi Arabia's first priority is the urgent cessation of military tensions in the Gaza Strip.

Leaders and top officials from more than a dozen countries have gathered in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, for a conference to discuss ways to “de-escalate” the Zionists and Hamas war amid growing fears of a wider Middle East conflict.

Dubbed the Cairo Peace Summit, representatives from countries including Jordan, France, Germany, Russia, China, the United Kingdom, the United States, Qatar, and South Africa are attending the one-day meeting on Saturday, together with United Nations and European Union officials.
