35 people arrested in connection with 7 big corruption cases

TEHRAN, Jul. 31 (MNA) – Tehran Police Chief Brigadier General Hossein Rahimi said Tue. that 35 people have so far been arrested in connection with seven big corruption cases regarding gold coins, currency and automobiles.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Tehran Police Chief Brigadier General Hossein Rahimi announced the arrest of 35 people in connection with seven big corruption cases, adding that five of whom have been sent to prison on a judicial order, and a large number of forex brokers have been summoned to the police stations.

The corruption cases were in connection with the recent scandals regarding the skyrocketing hike in the value of gold coins and foreign currency, as well as car imports.

Rahimi explained that the forex brokers were summoned on charges of disrupting the market by announcing false prices.

On Sunday, Iran’s Judiciary spokesman Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei said that twenty-nine people have been arrested on charges of ‘economic disruption’ and would be soon put on trial. He added that many of these arrested people are charged with capital crimes, punishable with execution.
