TEHRAN, Jun. 30 (MNA) – Iran’s Alireza Beiranvand was selected as the best goalkeeper of 2018 World Cup group stage competitions by Guardian readers.

The result of these votes were released on Friday in Guardian website.

“According to our readers, Iran’s Alireza Beiranvand gets the nod in goal and it is difficult to argue with that selection,” the report says.

Touching upon Beiranvand’s difficult path to success, it adds, “he has been brilliant in Russia.”

The Guardian report mentions that “saving a Cristiano Ronaldo penalty against Portugal was only one of the highlights as he has produced several high-calibre stops and started Iran’s attacks with his long and accurate throws.”

“I’d like to play at Liverpool or PSG,” the report quotes him as saying and adds that he will not be short of offers.

With average rating of 8.67, Iran’s goalie has the highest rating among all players in Russia.
