Iran to consider all diplomatic options to resolve issues

TEHRAN, Jun. 28 (MNA) – Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said Thu. that Iran will consider all peaceful, diplomatic options to resolve issues in a bid to make sure no security issue would be added to the country’s economic woes.

Larijani maintained that holding negotiations with US under current situation is a “waste of time”, especially because the US president is an "imprudent politician" that abides by none of his country’s agreements; “there is no logic in killing an agreement that has been worked on for two years and endorsed by the Security Council,” said Larijani in reference to Trump’s decision to withdraw from the landmark Iran nuclear deal.

He said that the US strategy toward Iran follows two approaches: one, to create political chaos inside and around Iran; and two, to make Iran economically vulnerable.

“Because of some false signals that they have received from Iran, they assume that now is the best time to confront the Islamic establishment,” said Larijani, inviting officials and the nation to exercise more patience in the face of problems and put aside their differences to another time.

“A realistic approach for taking advantage of all potentials is important,” said Larijani, adding “the European sides asked for a chance to stay in the nuclear deal, and we gave them a few weeks’ time [to come up with solid guarantees]. Of course, it is yet uncertain whether they can do it, but it was the correct decision to give them a chance.”

Larijani further stressed that Iran would consider all peaceful and diplomatic options to resolve problems, adding that Iran does not wish to get caught up in further conflicts.
