Transactions at TME up 9%

TEHRAN, Sept. 23 (MNA) — Over 2,682,000 tons of varieties of steel, aluminum, copper and zinc, valued at some 12,424,378 million rials, was traded at Tehran Metals Exchange (TME) during the first six months of the year (Iranian year started March, 21).

The total transactions closed during the period at the metal exchange saw an increase by 9 percent compared to same period last year.

 

About 610,000 tons of different steel products worth over 10,402,622 million rials was traded at the exchange during the period, registering 97.27 percent and 83.07 percent of the total deals made at the market in terms of weight and value correspondingly.

 

Also, in the copper group of products, a total of 45,660 tons of copper varieties, worth 1,533,264 million rials, was traded, accounting for 1.7 percent and 12.3 percent of the weight and value of all the deals made in the market during the period.

 

In addition, in the past six months, some 26,380 tons of different types of aluminum products, valued at 472,812 million rials, was traded in the metal exchange; the transactions accounted for 0.98 percent and 3.8 percent of the total deals made in the market during the period in the order of weight and value.

 

Moreover, in the zinc group of products, about 1,200 tons of different types of zinc ingots valued at 15,679 million rials was traded in TME, covering some 0.04 percent and 0.1 percent of the total transactions concluded in the market during the time span in terms of weight and value respectively.

 

Furthermore, over the course of the first six months of the current year (started March 21, 2005), deals on 2,376,400 tons of the commodities worth of 9,510,150 million rials, was carried out in the forms of advanced purchases; whereas, 306,500 tons of the goods valued at 2,914,226 million rials was traded in cash.
