Iran pavilion opens in Frankfurt Book Fair

TEHRAN, Oct. 11 (MNA) – At a ceremony, featuring Iranian figures like Amir Masoud Shahram-Nia, the Managing Director of Iran's Cultural Exhibitions Institute, Iran’s pavilion was opened at the 69th edition of Frankfurt Book Fair.

At a ceremony on Wednesday, Iran’s pavilion at the 69th edition of Frankfurt Book Fair was opened at the venue of the exhibition in central German city of Frankfurt.

“The founding stone of Iran’s participation at this exhibition was laid in 2011 and since 2012 Iran has had a national pavilion at the event which I think is wise decision,” said Managing Director of Iran's Cultural Exhibitions Institute Amir Masoud Shahram-Nia.

Iran is a regular participant of Frankfurt Book Fair; however, when in 2015, the organizers announced that Salman Rushdie would address the opening session, Iran officially pulled out of the fair in an official statement. After Iran’s decision Rushdie’s address at the meeting was cancelled.
