Iran refers 2 nominated dossiers to IUCN, ICOMOS

TEHRAN, Jul. 01 (MNA) – Two nominated dossiers for inscription in UNESCO World Heritage List, Fars Sassanid sites and Arasbaran Protected Area, have been submitted to the IUCN and ICOMOS for evaluation.

The two dossiers will be reviewed for inscription during the meeting of World Heritage committee in 2018.

Assessors from (International Council on Monuments and Sites) ICOMOS and (The International Union for Conservation of Nature) IUCN will probably visit the two nominated sites on two separate dates in August and September and take part in specialized panels to evaluate the two dossiers.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is a non-governmental organization that provides the World Heritage Committee with technical evaluations of natural heritage properties.

The International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) is a professional association that works for the conservation and protection of cultural heritage places around the world and offers advice to UNESCO on World Heritage Sites.
