Zarif, UN chief discuss Tehran attacks, regional issues in Astana

TEHRAN, Jun. 09 (MNA) – UN Secretary General António Guterres in a meeting with Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in Kazakhstan and condemned the terrorist attack in Tehran and sympathized with the Iranian government and nation.

The two sides met in Astana on Thursday and exchanged views on international and regional issues, especially the situation in Syria, Iraq and Yemen.

Guterres said the only solution to the crisis among some countries in the Persian Gulf is through political dialogue.

Pointing to the JCPOA, secretary general said UN’s official position is to support the spirit and letter of the deal which is a historic agreement.

Supporting dust summit in Tehran, Guterres said sustainable management of water resources must be done in a way that does not create harmful environmental effects on neighboring countries.
