Mr. Mahmoud Alavi who was speaking to the press after Cabinet’s Wednesday session said that the ministry had good news for the public; “the intelligence machinery had always been watching the security situation closely and had so far aborted incipient movements which sought to destabilize the country,” Alavi added, providing no further information about the nature of the threats or terrorist groups.
He also highlighted his ministry’s efforts to address pre-election season issues; “the Ministry of Intelligence has coordinated its work with other organizations and bodies to secure a smooth transition to the election season; we have launched measures to this effect and will continue in a framework informed by the common sense,” asserted the minister.
