Fomenting sectarian strife biggest threat to Muslim world

TEHRAN, Dec. 14 (MNA) – Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani called fueling religious tensions and clashes between Muslim brothers the biggest threat to security and stability in the Islamic world.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Seyyed Ammar al-Hakim, Head of National Iraqi Alliance and Leader of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, on Tuesday.

Parliament speaker emphasizing the Iraq's importance in the region and the need for joint efforts to help solve the problems in Iraq, said the Islamic Republic of Iran has always made friendly relations with regional countries and welcomes any development of relations with its neighbors.

"We will continue our supports or Iraqi government and nation in all-out fields," Larijani added.

He noted that the biggest threat to the security and stability in the Muslim World is fomenting religious strife and fueling tensions between Muslim brothers.

Highly regarding the role of National Coalition on confidence-building and strengthening unity and solidarity between the various groups in Iraq, Larijani said Hashd al-Shabi Act is an important aid to the Iraqi people in order to strengthen stability and security in the country.

Pointing to the liberation of Aleppo in Syria, Larijani stressed that insecurity in Iraq amounts to insecurity in the region; "the release of Aleppo of the terrorist groups is an important measure to contribute to regional security."

Larijani also stressed the need to develop and strengthen economic cooperation between Iran and Iraq.

Ammar al-Hakim, for his part, pointed to brotherly ties between the two countries, saying the Islamic Republic and Iraq enjoy broad and widespread commonalities in cultural, religious, political and economic fields.

Pointing to the approval of Hashd al-Shabi Act, Hakim said the measure is an important step towards Iraqi nation's partnership to provide security in the country.

"We are determined to turn Mosul's liberation to a key factor in Iraq's national unity," he added.
