Iran’s taekwondo outfit to leave for Baku

TEHRAN, Dec. 05 (MNA) – National Iranian taekwondo squad will leave Tehran for Azerbaijan’s Baku to take part at WTF World Taekwondo Grand Prix Final as well as Team Championships.

Sarhadchi Olympic Sports Complex of the Azerbaijani capital will be hosting WTF World Taekwondo Grand Prix Final from December 9-10 as well as 2016 WTF World Taekwondo Team Championships on December 12-13.

Accordingly, Iranian taekwondo practitioners are scheduled to depart for Baku on Tuesday morning at 2:30 a.m. Tehran local time.

Armin Hadipour, Behnam Asbaghi, Abolfazl Yaghubi, Masoud Hajizavareh and Sajjad Mardani will represent Iran at the Grand Prix Final event.

Iran’s team for Team Championships comprises Farzan Ashourzadeh, Mahdi Jalali, Siavash Fakhraei and Saeid Rajabi.

WTF World Taekwondo Team Championships require all participating squads to have at least five taekwondo fighters or six athletes with one being the reserve.

World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) has invited 2015 title winner Iran, South Korea, Russia, Mexico, the US, Côte d’Ivoire, Australia and Azerbaijan Republic (with host country quota) to the Team Championships.

WTF World Taekwondo Grand Prix Final will also be attended by 16 taekwondo practitioners (two representatives for each weight division) on the basis of the lasted world rankings released for October.
