Russian oceanography vessel docks at Bandar Abbas

BANDAR ABBAS, Nov. 18 (MNA) – An oceanographic research vessel belonging to Russian Navy docked at Iran’s First Naval Zone, Bandar Abbas, on Friday.

The Russian oceanographic research vessel captained by Lieutenant colonel Alexey Vladimirovich docked on Friday noon at Iran’s First Naval Zone, with HQ at the Persian Gulf port of Bandar Abbas.

Rear Admiral Hossein Azad, Commander of the First Naval Zone, said Iran’s strategic Navy is hosting the vessel in line with maintaining and developing relations between the two countries, as well as improving the level of security in the region. 

“The staff on board of the research vessel, as well as the commanders and officers will visit the city of Bandar Abbas during their stay, and various tourism, cultural and sports programs have been planned for them,” he said.

Since March 2016, the First Naval Zone of Iran has hosted flotillas from India, Pakistan and Italy. The Russian unit is the fourth of its kind to be docking at Bandar Abbas this year.
