The event, entitled ‘Wow, I Found a New Friend,’ is a collection of 6 short aminations focusing on theme of happiness and friendship and is on screen today (Sep. 25) in Paris. DreamLab Films, 4 of the short animated stories are by IIDCYA. Gholamreza Kazzazi's ‘Heart of Scarecrow,’, ‘Kind Moon’ by Nazanin Sobhan Sarbandi, and ‘Single-Line Stories-4 and 5’ by Behzad Farahat are hosted for the first time by Paris’ Forum des Image.
French distributor will put on screen the collection in 30 cinema halls across the country where young adults and children would attend along their families. The major themes are the sweat taste of friendship, company, and kindness, with major audience children above 4. Two other screened items are Negareh Halimi’s ‘Pyracantha’ and ‘Cravat’ by a Belgian director. The event had already hosted 4 other Iranian animations; ‘The Fox Who Followed the Sound’ by Fatemeh Goudarzi, ‘It Is Raining Cats and Dogs’ and ‘Wheat, Grain By Grain’ by Mahin Javaherian, and Hamid Karimian’s ‘Cloudy Goats’.
In a related story, Karim Moeinoddini’s highly acclaimed ‘Atlan’ will vie for trophies in Yellowcake Film Festival in Canada.
‘Atlan’ relates the story of a horse-trainer, Ali Golnejad and his beloved horse, Ilhan, which is supposed to bring much success and glory to the family. Ali plans to marry his fiancé using the prize money won by Ilhan, but the events take a different turn to the worse and Ilhan receives an unfavorable draw, posing difficulties for Ali to grapple with winning the prize along Ilhan.
The documentary had been screened in several festivals including Dutch International Documentary Film Festival (IDFA), Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival and Tiburon Film Festival in California, Zurich Film Festival in Switzerland and in Cannes’ Doc Corners special section. It was also nominated for Best Long Documentary Award in Asia Pacific Screen Awards in Australia and the 17th TRT Documentary Award in Turkey.
