Speaking at a meeting with his Armenian counterpart Shavarsh Kocharyan in Tehran on Sunday, Iranian Foreign Ministry’s First Deputy Morteza Sarmadi pointed to the good relations between the two countries saying “in line with its principal policy of having close and friendly ties with neighbor countries, Iran is fully prepared to broaden relations with Armenia in energy, transportation and transit fields.”
He deemed establishment of peace and security inside the region as a significant and beneficial measure expressing hope that present differences will be resolved soon through dialogue and peaceful strategies.
The Armenian Deputy FM Kocharyan, for his part, voiced satisfaction towards the peaceful policies pursued by Iran and welcomed strengthening of bilateral ties in various arenas expressing hope that mutual collaboration between the two sides would reach satisfactory levels.
“The change of government has not affected long-term policies of Armenia as we are still following the implementation of previous agreements as well as seeking to reach new deal with Iran for expansion of bilateral cooperation in various fields,” he concluded.
