Jaberi ends Turkey visit, returns Tehran

TEHRAN, Aug. 23 (MNA) – Deputy-FM for Arab and African Affairs has ended his short visit to Ankara on Tuesday evening, returning Tehran.

Hossein Jaberi Ansari met with his counterpart Ümit Yalçın, Turkish deputy-FM for Regional Affairs in a long 4-hour session where they discussed developments in the region and improvement of bilateral ties, Syrian crisis and possible Turkish participation in Syrian crisis, this time however in a different form of helping Iran and Russia as a result of a shift of alliance marked by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s historic visit to Moscow.

Jaberi Ansari’s visit highlights the increasing dynamism between Tehran and Ankara in recent weeks; earlier in August, Jaberi Ansari had ensured the media that Turkey would be a partner for Iran and Russia in efforts to bring stability to the war-torn country. Iran’s denunciation of July 15 unsuccessful coup d’état to topple Mr. Erdogan’s government precipitated cordial relations between Tehran and Ankara, with Zarif and Çavuşoğlu frequenting capitals; the newly emergent cordiality further improved with promising prospects of a Turkish involvement in Syria.

Jaberi Ansari left Ankara for Tehran after the meeting.
