Pakistan's foreign secretary arrives in Tehran

TEHRAN, Aug. 05 (MNA) – Foreign Secretary of Pakistan Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry left Islamabad for Tehran on Friday morning to attend the 9th round of Pakistan-Iran Bilateral Political Consultations.

Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, the Foreign Secretary of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, arrived in Tehran on Friday in the morning to sit at the 9th round of Pakistan-Iran Bilateral Political Consultations.

Chaudhry heads a delegation of diplomats from Pakistan to share the table with Iranian negotiators headed by Ebrahim Rahimpour, the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia and Oceania Affairs.

The 8th round of Pakistan-Iran Bilateral Political Consultations was held in Pakistani Foreign Office in Islamabad on October 27, 2014.

A wide range of issues of common interest on bilateral and regional issues would be discussed by the representatives of the two neighboring countries.

Just ten days earlier, Nasser Khan Janjua, the National Security Advisor of Pakistan, had paid a three day visit to Tehran and met with high ranking Iranian officials like Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, the new chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Interior Minister Rahmani Fazli, and Ali Akbar Velayati, the adviser to Leader of the Islamic Revolution.

Lieutenant General Nasser Khan Janjua held three rounds of meetings with the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani, in Tehran and along with his Iranian counterpart issued a joint statement on security.
