Iran's squad appeared against host Indonesia on Saturday pulling out a sweeping 19-13 victory over the East Asian rivals by maintaining the lead all through the game.
The showdown marked Iran’s first victory in the Asian tournament following a loss and a draw against Kazakhstan and Japan in earlier encounters.
In separate fixtures on Day 3 of the sportive event, Uzbekistan surprisingly vanquished title-holder Kazakhstan 12-11 while Japan crushed Chinese rivals 21-14.
Junior Iranian water polo players are scheduled to face China today on July 24.
The tournament has brought Indonesia, Iran, China, Japan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan together.
Asian Water Polo Junior Championship, which started on July 21 in Indonesia, runs until July 27.
The competitions will also be as a Qualification Tournament for choosing Asian representatives to attend in FINA World Junior Championship (20 years & under) in 2017.
