Ghaem Maghami undefeated at Chess Star Cup

BANDAR ANZALI, Jul. 13 (MNA) – Iran’s Ehsan Ghaem Maghami remained undefeated on the third day of Chess Stars Cup underway in the country’s Caspian port city of Bandar Anzali.

The Iranian outfit conceded a defeat against the World team on the third day of the international tournament.

The third day encounters were held in the form of standard time classic with games of Armenia’s Gabriel Sargissian vs. Ehsan Ghaem Maghami, Aleksey Dreev of Russia vs. Pouya Idani, Edouard Romain of France vs. Shahin Lorpari, the Netherland’s Ivan Sokolov vs. Seyed Khalil Mousavi, Evgenij Miroshnichenko of Ukraine vs. Amirreza Pourramezanali as well as Jahongir Vakhidov vs. Aryan Gholami ending in a tie.

Iranian chess grandmaster marks the only undefeated athlete of the Iranian squad present at the sportive event.

Pouria Darini conceded a defeat against Nigel Short of Britain while Alireza Firouzja was prevailed over by the Chinese rival Lu Shanglei.

The only Iranian athlete who came out victorious was Parham Maghsoodloo who overwhelmed Mikheil Mchedlishvili of Georgia.

Also, Iran’s Sarasadat Khademalsharieh failed to breeze past Jaan Ehlvest from the US.

So far, the World team remains ahead of the Iranian side 6-4 overall.

The 1st Chess Stars Cup is being competed in Bander Anzali Free Zone, Iran from July 9th to 21st.
