Austria’s OMV signs into exploring oil in Iran

TEHRAN, May 05 (MNA) – Vienna-based OMV group of Europe signed a contract with Iran’s Oil Ministry to form a joint commission of oil exploration to examine salt domes in southeastern Iran.

The OMV group, an integrated international oil and gas company headquartered in Austrian capital city of Vienna, signed a contract with Iran’s Oil Ministry to form a joint research project comprised of Iranians and Europeans to study and explore geologically-difficult areas of exploration in Iran.

“This agreement is signed to execute a project on joint studies in the form of a joint surveying commission of Iranian experts of oil exploration and the experts of this company to conduct surveys in the eastern areas of the Zagros mountains near the Persian Gulf with focus on salt domes,” said to reporters Seyed Saleh Hendi, the Director of Exploration Department at National Iranian Oil Company, after the contract was signed.

He also recounted that the project is scheduled to run for two years and all the costs of it are to be paid by the OMV group.

Hendi also reassured that the project will give a mutual understanding of capabilities to the both sides of the contract and will ease the way for future cooperation of bigger scale.
