Head of JCPOA follow-up commission Seyyed Abbas Araghchi attended the Monday session of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Iran's Parliament, reported IRIB.
Attended by some Members of the Parliament (MPs), the meeting was headed by the commission's chairman Alaeddin Boroujerdi and discussed the quarterly report on JCPOA implementation.
“Iran’s Foreign Ministry is obliged to present a report on the execution of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) to the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission,” said Araghchi following the meeting.
He added “given that the accord had become operational on January 16, 2016, we met the deadline for the three-month report which was submitted on April 14.”
Deputy FM Araghchi further stressed “on the basis of the timetable stipulated by the commission, I attended the meeting to offer further explanations as well as to answer the questions raised by MPs.”
“Majority of the questions asked at the session dealt with various aspects of the JCPOA implementation and the MPs’ major concerns were on lifting of sanctions and banking issues,” underlined the official.
Araghchi also noted “I described the progress made, existing obstacles as well as how to overcome them.”
“The overall process has been favorable although there exist some barriers which are being eliminated,” highlighted the official.
In response to a question whether the meeting dealt with the issue of the US stealing two billion dollars of Iran’s properties, Araghchi said “everything was discussed and the proper explanations were offered.”
