China hosted the event, 2016 World ParaVolley Intercontinental (Sitting Volleyball) which was held March 17-23 with 15 countries including Iran, China, Brazil, Germany, Egypt, and the US participating. Iran won all its matches to claim the trophy.
Hadi Rezaei national coach told reporters that his men played beautifully against Brazil only to crush it 3-0. Iran’s Davoud Alipourian was the Man of the Tournament and Morteza Mehrzad, the tallest player of the tournament, was recognized as the Best Spiker of the tournament.
The competitions was only for Rio qualified teams for men and women. Iran’s women volleyballers also came only fifth in the competition.
