Navy's 38th flotilla arrives in Tanzania's Dar es Salaam

TEHRAN, Mar. 01 (MNA) – Iran’s Army Navy’s 38th flotilla of warships has arrived in Tanzanian port city of Dar es Salaam.

In Tanzanian major port city, Iran’s Ambassador to the country Mr. Mehdi Aghajafari and embassy staff, Iranian cultural and military attachés, Tanzanian chief of staff of the armed forces and the Navy welcomed the flotilla consisting of Shahid Naqdi destroyer, Lavan and Bushehr logistical warships.

The flotilla will stay in Dar es Salaam for 4 days in mission of communicating the ‘message of peace’ of Iranians to nations of East Africa especially Tanzania. The report of the Iranian embassy communicated to Mehr News wrote: “Mr. Ambassador addressed the welcome ceremony and believed that two flotillas visiting the country by Islamic Republic of Iran in less than 2 years indicates the strong bilateral resolve to improve defensive cooperation, especially in the navy and maritime defense.”

“The Islamic Republic of Iran’s Army Navy’s strong patrolling in the north and west of Indian Ocean mainly seeks to contribute to global peace and security; Iran’s close ties with African countries play great roles in keeping the region secure and safe for all and would provide secure grounds for safe shipping in the nearby waters,” he was quoted in the report as saying.

The 38th Navy flotilla commanders will also meet with Tanzanian military officials and commanders along with visiting the country’s tourist attractions.

The 38th Navy flotilla had visited the city for the last time in June 2014.
