Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on the sideline of the 10th Parliamentary and the 5th Assembly of Experts elections at Hosseinieh Jamaran on Friday told Mehr News correspondent that elections in Iran are the ‘manifestation of religious democracy’, adding “our nation have so far demonstrated beautifully on the elections scene that despite all difficulties and pressures, they are allied and united with the government and fully support the Islamic Republic.”
He went on to add that “it was the elections that gave us the power to proceed with the nuclear negotiations and end the unjust and cruel sanctions.”
“I have no doubt that today, our people will participate in the elections enthusiastically and fully alert and once again prove to the world that they will always support the system and the government,” said Zarif, adding this passionate participation will be Iran’s greatest element of power on the international scene.
He further noted the impact of these elections on the Islamic Republic’s regional and international affairs, saying “the more wide-spread is the participation of people, the better the world will realize Iran’s power and authority. This will show the world that our people should be spoken to with the language of dignity and not pressure.”
