Board of Governors to approve 5+1 draft resolution

Board of Governors to approve 5+1 draft resolution

TEHRAN, Dec. 14 (MNA) – Iran’s envoy to the IAEA has estimated the Board of Governors will approve the resolution with unanimity to effectively close PMD case once and for all.

Reza Najafi told reporters on Monday that Mr. Yukiya Amano would address the Tuesday meeting of the Board with an ultimate assessment of the past and present issues of Iran’s nuclear program, and Board members would decide on the resolution proposed by the 5+1.

“The ‘founding’ countries of the resolution will introduce it and Board members will give their positions on the resolution. The Islamic Republic of Iran will also address the meeting both as the head of NAM Conference and as individual country,” he told reporters. “We predict Board members will approve the resolution by unanimity, which will close PMD case of Iran’s nuclear program, and opening the way for JCPOA implementation further, which is planned to be implemented by late December and Early January.”

In response to a reporter asking how long the session would last, Najafi said that it would depend on the number of participating and addressing members in the meeting and would not exceed 12 hours, unless the number of addressing members was exceptionally high.
