Iran, Azerbaijan to hold joint religious concerts

ASTARA, Dec. 01 (MNA) – Iran and Azerbaijan’s National Orchestras will hold joint religious concerts in Tehran, Baku and other countries, Iran’s cultural attaché to Baku announced.

Iran’s cultural attaché office offered the suggestion of cooperation to Azerbaijan Philharmonic center, Seyyed Ebrahim Ebrahimi said.

The Azerbaijan State Symphony Orchestra, in October, performed Iranian composer and pianist Puria Khadem’s symphonic poem Alamdar (Standard Bearer) which was about Hazrat Abbas (AS), the brother of Imam Hussein (AS).

The performance was warmly received by Azerbaijani people and country’s culture and music officials.

The concert was conducted by Rauf Abdullayev, a leading figure in Azerbaijan, who will also hold a performance in Tehran’s Vahdat hall in the coming month, he added.

Moreover Seyyed Ebrahim Ebrahimi added that during the past year, five groups of poets visited both the countries during which different programs were organized for them.

He noted that the cultural attaché office prioritizes boosting ties between the literary groups of Azerbaijan and Iran particularly in the neighboring provinces. A number of Azerbaijani poets and eulogists will attend Iran’s congress of Ashura poets which will be held next week in the University of Tabriz.

The cultural attaché said that works of noted Iranian poets are being translated. Azerbaijan has started to introduce Iran’s contemporary scholars and literati and the Nizami Museum of Literature, in Baku, introduced Iranian poet Sohrab Sepehri in its 8th magazine.

The conference of Saadi is also planned to be held in Baku in late 2015.
