Putin highlights increase in combat readiness of Russian troops

MOSCOW, Nov. 10 (MNA) – The Russian President said yesterday during a meeting with senior military officers in Sochi that the antiterrorist operation in Syria demonstrated an increase in the combat readiness of the Russian Armed Forces.

Speaking at the meeting devoted to the state of affairs of the defense industrial complex, Vladimir Putin reiterated that the temporary actions against the ISIL and other terrorist groups carried out at the request of Damascus improved the troops' efficiency and capability.

According to the head of the Kremlin, this reality is quite visible in the missions that the members of the Russian military conduct in support of the ground forces in the Arab country.

Putin highlighted the stable operation of the companies of the defense industrial complex providing the armed forces with advanced missile systems, multirole and nuclear submarines, as well as surface ships.

The air force and the air defense forces are being updated, and also the artillery and the equipment of the ground and airborne troops, stressed the Russian leader.

He described the exercise ‘Center 2015’ as the most significant, noting that the surprise inspections and military exercises also demonstrated the high combat readiness of the troops.

Putin considered obvious that the conclusions and proposals that will follow the exercises and maneuvers should be used as a basis to build and develop the arms and services of the Ministry of Defense on the 2016-2020 period.

The commander of the Russian troops stressed that stability in the defense industry is important to support the comprehensive development of the national economy and the industry itself with hundreds of thousands of jobs, as well as maintain social stability.

Many people and highly qualified specialists are working in this field, that is, hundreds of thousands along with members of their family, said the president.

Putin said that a traditional series of meetings on defense matters begins on Monday, in which the status and performance of government orders on the matter will be discussed, and “the plans will be aligned with the real life and the recently completed exercises,” he said.

We will also review the progress in our work of strengthening national security, concluded the leader of Russia.
