Iran crowns WKU World Championships 2015

TEHRAN, Nov. 02 (MNA) – The Iranian kickboxing national team could crown the WKU World Championships 2015, Albir, Spain with 14 medals.

Lasting for three days from October 28 to November 2, the tournament wrapped up with Iran’s championship. Iranian representatives were present in the finals of almost all weight and age categories.

In male cadets 13-17 years old and in 55kg weight, Iran’s Amir Hossein Akbari was defeated by the German rival to get the world silver medal while Omid Tayebi in 60kg outpowered his Spanish opponent in the final to snatch the gold medal; in the third and last final of Junior Boys, Amir hossein Sartipi could bag a gold by winning over the Kuwaiti fighter.

Two women fighters, Saeideh Fard Sanei in 55kg and Somaye Ghanbari in +65kg, represented Iran in the Light Contact section and achieved silver medals by subduing their German and Spanish rivals, respectively.

Meanwhile, in the Low Contact section, six Iranian boxers including Ahamd Nik in 60kg, Hossein Hosseinzadeh in 65kg, Hossein Hayati in 70kg, Sohrab Bahrami in 80kg, Sina Karimian in -90kg as well as Jafar Ahmadi in +90kg weight categories bagged gold medals of the tournament while Mojtaba Hosseini received a silver medal.

Overall, Iran’s mission in the competitions came to an end with 9 gold, 3 silver and two bronze medals to mark our country as the world champion.

Germany came second while Britain and Spain jointly stood in the third place of 2015 WKU World Championships.

WKU World Championships 2015 is the premium tournament for the disciplines of Forms, Karate Kumite, Fullcontact, Kickboxing K1 rules, Pointfighting, Light Contact, MMA and Kyokushin Karate.

The strongest women and men of modern and traditional martial arts were challenging the finest fighters from World from October 28 to November 2 in Albir, Spain.
