New chapter in Iran-Russia scientific coop.

MOSCOW, Aug. 26 (MNA) – Iranian high-ranking scientific delegation is to sign an MoU with Russian Foundation for Basic Research today in Moscow, ushering in a new era of technological cooperation between the two countries.

Sorena Sattari, Iranian Vice-President for Science and Technology, Iran National Science Foundation (INSF) President Nosratollah Zargham along with a team of Iranian high-ranking scientific and technological officials will meet with the president of Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR) on Wednesday to sign a memorandum of understanding.

RFBR is a self-governed state nonprofit organization created by the decree of the president of the Russian Federation. This foundation holds 17 kinds of competitions and competition programs for supporting scientists, including international ones in collaboration with 26 countries. RFBR supports the following scientific directions: Mathematics, Mechanics, and Information Technology; Physics and Astronomy; Chemistry and Studies of Materials; Biology and Medical Sciences; Earth Sciences; Humanities and Social Sciences; Information Technology and Computer Systems; Engineering Sciences.

The memorandum is the result of a meeting held in April 2015 between INSF and RFBR presidents in Tehran in which the parties discussed the prospects of future collaborations.

Sattari and his delegation are currently in Moscow to attend Russia’s MAKS-2015 Airshow that will run until August 31.
