Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi heading a high-ranking delegation comprising of the AEOI officials arrived in the Chinese capital city of Beijing Wednesday morning to hold talks on redesigning Arak heavy water reactor as well as the construction of several new power plants in Iran.
Salehi is also scheduled to visit research centers and nuclear facilities in China including the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), China Institute of Atomic Energy (CIAE) and some other Chinese institutions active in field of peaceful nuclear programs.
On Tuesday, the AEOI spokesperson Behrouz Kamalvandi said the negotiations between Iran and China will revolve around the redesigning of Arak reactor and the construction of small ACP100 reactors with the main features of generating electricity, industrial steam and water desalination.
Salehi arrived in Beijing on Wednesday morning for an official three-day visit. He is expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with his Chinese counterpart. The Iranian official will meet China Atomic Energy Authority (CAEA) Chairman Xu Dazhe on Wednesday evening. Salehi is also scheduled to meet with the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Thursday evening.
