ARWU ranks Tehran University among 300

TEHRAN, Aug. 23 (MNA) – Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) has placed University of Tehran among 300 top universities.

According to the University’s website, in the ranking published by ARWU, the University of Tehran ranks 201-300 among world universities and ranks 1st among national universities.

Based on this report, the University of Tehran has a similar ranking with several other top universities including Victoria, Waterloo, York, Ottawa, South Florida, Maryland Baltimore, Notre Dame, Nebraska and Otago universities.

The ARWU ranking system as one of the most creditable international rankings considers 6 criteria which include number of graduates and professors with Nobel Prize or other important prizes, number of highly cited researchers recognized by Thompson Reuters, number of articles published in Science and Nature journals, number of articles published in Science Index and Social Science Index, the annual academic performance, number of students and professors and physical space.

While University of Tehran ranks 201-300 in the world, in the thematic ranking, its Engineering and Technical Faculty ranks 51-75.

ARWU releases the list of 1000 top institutions annually and the first 500 names are published on its website.
