“These islands are an inseparable part of the Iranian territory,” Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said on Thursday.
She maintained that the repetition of interfering claims about Iran’s sovereignty on the three islands will never have any impact on the existing legal and historical realities.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always given priority to the policy of mutual respect and good neighborliness with all neighboring countries based on non-interference in internal affairs,” Afkham pointed out, adding Iran welcomed expansion of cordial relations with neighboring states.
Afkham’s remarks came in reaction to the final communiqué of the 15th Gulf Cooperation Council Consultative summit in Riyadh on May 5, which raised unfounded allegations about the ownership of the three Iranian islands.
