Uppsala University inks MOU with Iranian university

TEHRAN, Feb. 26 (MNA) -- The dean of Iran’s Sistan-Baluchestan University in Zahedan said on Saturday that the university recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Sweden’s Uppsala University.

“We aim to conduct research and educational activities with the Swedish university,” Ahmad Akbari added.

 

“Exchanges of professors and students for short courses, exchanges of linguistic periodicals and books, joint research, and holding seminars were mentioned in the MOU,” he said.

 

Courses in 115 subjects are taught by over 400 lecturers at Sistan-Baluchestan University.

 

“The university has a special status in scientific fields and enjoys an excellent reputation and very good facilities,” Carina Jahani, associate professor of Iranian languages at Uppsala University said.

 

Collaboration between Asian and European universities could facilitate efforts to boost the level of scientific and research advancement, Jahani added.

 

Uppsala University was founded in 1477 and is the oldest university in the Nordic region.
