TEHRAN, Sep. 30 (MNA) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that regional cooperation on the basis of international organization such as BRICS and Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will boost power of the independent countries.

He made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin in Tehran on Monday where he stressed that the exchange of the diplomatic delegation between Iran and Russia will result in the development of interaction and cooperation between the two countries as well as in boosting the cooperation in line with accelerating the implementation of the previously inked agreements between the two sides.

Regional cooperation within the framework of international organizations such as BRICS and Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will boost the power of the independent countries such as Iran, Russia and China, the Iranian president said.

“We believe that if the important joint projects between Iran and Russia are put into operation, great capabilities and potential will be created in countring the oppressive US sanctions for both countries,” Pezeshkian underlined.

Pezeshkian considered the agreement for turning Iran into a transit gas hub in the region as an excellent example of the joint cooperation between Iran and Russia in line with securing the interests of the two countries and creating sustainable development and economic growth in the region.

During the meeting, President Pezeshkian emphasized the need for implementing such plans.

The intensification of crimes and escalation by the criminal Zionist regime, which is taking place with the direct support of the United States and with the aim of laying the groundwork for the expansion of the US presence in the region, is considered a common threat to the interests of countries and nations of the region, he continued.

Russian prime minister, for his part, expressed his satisfaction with meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and said that his country is interested in strengthening and expanding interactions with the Islamic Republic of Iran, especially in the fields of energy, industry, and transportation.

Mikhail Mishustin emphasized the need for expanding cooperation between Iran and Russia to create a new world order for the benefit of all countries in the world.

He invited Iranian President Pezeshkian to participate in the BRICS summit and also to sign the comprehensive strategic agreement between the two countries.

Mishustin also expressed concern about the escalation of tensions in the region with the support of the United States and said that the United States is seeking to secure its interests in different parts of the world, and the independent countries of the region, including Iran and Russia, must speed up their cooperation to deal with such actions.
